CFL attendance 2023 by team are Winnipeg - 28,448 Saskatchewan - 28,112 Lions - 25,703 Edmonton - 24,741 and Hamilton - 22,941.

The League average was 22,869.0, reported at 21,744.6 in 2022, which is 1,187.6 less than this year.

The regular season has already begun on June 8 and ends on October 28. It is currently in its eighth week. The first game for the upcoming week is scheduled for July 29 between the Redblacks and the Tiger-cats.

While the first game of the season took place on June 9 between the Stampeders and the Lions, where the Lions got a 25-15 win over the other.

Given the popularity of the League, though it consists of only 9 teams compared to 32 teams in NFL, its attendance has averaged 20,000 viewers per game since 1963.

The most spectators totaled 50,000, also 111 times, including six consecutive records in 1976. It stands third or fourth on the list of the most crowds drawer among any other professional sports League in North America.

CFL TV Ratings 2023

CFL TV Ratings in week 6 has set the highest multi-year regular season TV rating. It had the largest 567,850 average audience of 2023 in week 5.

The opening week didn't give a good vibe for the season. The total week 1 average was 388,050, which was 53,575 less than 441,625 attendance in 2022.

But as the League progressed from week 1 to week 6, the ratings rocketed, setting many top records and breaking the previous ones. Let's look at week-wise ratings of CFL 2023.

Week 1:

  • B.C. at Calgary - 226,900 - Thursday
  • Hamilton at Winnipeg - 511,500 - Friday
  • Ottawa at Montreal - 278,500 English (174,000 French) - Saturday
  • Saskatchewan at Edmonton - 535,300 - Sunday

The week 1 average totaled 388,050; with French included, it rose to 431,550.

Week 2:

  • Calgary at Ottawa - 273,000 - Thursday
  • Winnipeg at Saskatchewan - 690,600 - Friday
  • Edmonton at B.C. - 529,000 - Saturday
  • Hamilton at Toronto - 264,000 - Sunday

Week 3:

Calgary Stampeders attendance in 2023 has reached 21,432.5 on the home average and 25,884.7 on the visitor average.

In their last game, they got a viewership of 721,600. The average home game ticket sales reached above 21,000 while entering week 7. The stampeders experienced a 30 percent drop in their season-ticket base since 2015.

According to Jay Mc Neil, the vice President, Business Operations, they are calculating a 25 percent drop in home game season average ticket sales since 2019.

In 2015 the team had 22,000 season ticket holders, which went down to 19,500 in just four years in 2019. This was a notable decrease that impacted the overall economic structure of the team.

The team currently has 15,000 confirmed season ticket holders, a shy number. But though a low number of tickets sold, they have a record in fan dollars spent at Calgary games which means their fans are buying more dinners during the game.

Saskatchewan Roughriders Average Attendance

Saskatchewan Roughriders' Average Attendance was recorded at 28,112.7 in-home and 27,019.3 in away games. The team had a significant drop since 2018.

Roughriders' all-time average attendance was recorded in 2013 when 37,503 attendees witnessed their game for that season.

Decreasing trend of ticket sales has impacted the average number of witnesses of Roughriders games. The average number of total tickets sold in 2018 was 32,057, dropping to 30,723 in 2019.

The global pandemic completely shattered the 2020 season games of the Canadian Football League. Just after a year of Covid-19 breakout, the League decided to continue its season games and made public one month before its start. On such short notice, they could sell 28,837 tickets in 2021.

The purchase reduced to 27,431 tickets for the 2022 season, making it the least sales made in the last five years. This season they handed out 28.112 tickets to their fans which was just a little more than the previous year.

Edmonton Elks Attendance 2023

Edmonton Elks Attendance 2023 is 24,741.0 marking home average and 26,739.3 in away games. They had an all-time attendance record of 57,901 in 1982.

Coming to the season ticket sales, 2018 was their highest-selling year in the last five years. At that time, they sold 31,107 tickets on average. Elks have been receiving a significant decrease ever since.

Such a loss in the account started right after 2005, stabilizing in 2007 and 2008 and again in decreasing trend from 2010. in the 2019 season, Edmonton sold 29,340 average tickets.

The 2020 season was of course a brake in the sales. When the League resumed its season games in 2021, the team handed out 26,209 tickets which dropped to 26,209 in 2022.

The 2023 season saw a little upliftment in trading as compared to 2022 as they sold out 24,741 tickets up to week 7 of the game. Nothing near to the record has come across the team since 1982.

BC Lions Attendance 2023

BC Lions attendance was recorded at 25,703.7 in-home on average and 18,692.3 away matches. The team's all-time record was 46,637 in 1986.

The past five years have been tough for the Lions in terms of their sales of season tickets. The year 2018 sold 19,975 tickets which went on decreasing trend till 2021.

In the 2019 season, the sales dropped to 17,803 which was 2,166 less than that of its previous year. The reduction continued to the 2021 season as well. That year, they were able to sell only 12,507 tickets on average which was the lowest sales since its inception in 1954.

in 2022, the trading rose up to 20, 387 a massive pick of numbers as compared to 2021. The increment in the number of attendees continued in 2023 as well and reached 25,703 which is the highest number of sales in the last five seasons of the Lions.

If we look at the ticket sales statistics of the Tiger-Cats, it is similar to that of the BC Lions. Their sales trend decreased up to 2021 and lifted up overall in 2022 and 2023.

In 2018 their sales recorded 23,523 tickets on average, dropping by a little in the 2019 season, recording an average of 23,270. Though this is just a mere decrease in the number that can be neglected, the coming years showed it as notable.

The team couldn't sell any tickets in 2020 amidst the pandemic year. The League's resume year, the 2021 season, also did not excite them. The team was able to trade 19,064 tickets.

The 2022 and 2023 seasons almost took them five years back when their sales touched 22,264 and 22,941, respectively. The Tiger-cats have finally seen some rays of hope in bringing in some real money from tickets.

The year was a golden season for the team. They sold out 59,529 tickets on average and saw fully packed audiences cheering up for the Alouttes' success.

In 2018, the team sold 17,332 tickets which increased to 17,574 in 2019. The slight raise couldn't keep the Alouettes happy as they had to go empty-handed in 2020.

The 2021 season brought them a year of sadness as they could only sell 13,063 tickets, the fifth least sold in the history of Montreal Alouettes. The all-time least sales were back in 1997 when they sold 9,585 tickets.

In 2022, the number rose up to 17,682 and again decreased to 17,368 in the 2023 season. The team still need to do a lot of homework to reach their average sustaining sales.
