Last year Tom Brady played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers aged 45. Age is just a number in this league, where young talents struggle and old guns keep firing.

The oldest player ever to play in the NFL was George Blanda. He started his NFL career at 22 and played till 48 years after his last professional season in 1975.

The Pro Football Hall of Famer was a quarterback and kicker. He was picked by the Chicago Bears in 1949 as the 119th pick.

In his professional career, he played for the Baltimore Colts (1950), Chicago Bears (1950-58), Houston Oilers (1960-66), and Oakland Raiders (1967-1975).

His 26 seasons in the league is an NFL record. He made 943 extra points along with 959 extra point attempts, which are both NFL records.

Other oldest athletes include Morten Andersen (47), John Carney (46), Adam Vinatieri (46), Tom Brady (45), and John Nesser (45).

But today, we will focus on the oldest active NFL players.

Jason Peters - 41 Years

Jason Peters is playing his 19th season in the NFL. The Offensive Tackle has played in 243 games and started in 221 matches.

The former Arkansas Razorbacks athlete is from Queen City, Texas, and plays the 2023 season for the Seattle Seahawks.

It is mindboggling to know that the veteran was not picked in the 2004 NFL Draft. The Buffalo Bills signed him as an undrafted rookie free agent.

He played for them till 2008. After that, he stayed at the Philadelphia Eagles from 2009 to 2020. The nine-time Pro Bowler won his only Vince Lombardi Trophy in 2017 when the Eagles beat the Patriots 41-33 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

The 41-year-old played for the Chicago Bears (2021) and Dallas Cowboys (2022). In his 20-year career, Peters has been included three times in the First-team All-Pro (2007, 2011, 2013) and four times in the Second-team All-Pro (2007, 2008, 2010, 2014).

He has played in five games for the Seahawks in 2023 and started in two matches against the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers.

Aaron Rodgers - 40 Years

Aaron Rodgers shocked everyone when he left the Green Bay Packers and arrived at the New York Jets via a trade on April 26, 2023.

The arrival of the four-time NFL MVP (2011, 2014, 2020, and 2021) significantly boosted the young Jets' team. But everything turned south when Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles only after four snaps of the first game.

According to CBS Sports, the 10-time Pro Bowler targets a return in the December 24 fixture against the Washington Commanders.

The Super Bowl XLV winner was the 24th pick for the Packers in 2005. He played 230 games for the franchise.

During his NFL career, he has thrown 59,055 passing yards and 475 touchdowns. He also has 3,466 rushing yards and 35 rushing TDs to his name.

Aaron said he wanted to win the Super Bowl with the team when he joined the Jets. The chances of that happening in 2023 are highly doubtful.

The Super Bowl XLV MVP wants to give a year or two to the Jets before hanging his boots. His wish to win the trophy will hopefully come true, and we will see a happy ending to his illustrious career.

Nick Folk - 39 Years

Nick Folk has made 1,600 career points to his name. He has made 375 field goals and converted 475 extra-point kicks in 490 tries.

The 375 field goals were made in 448 attempts at an 83.5% success rate. The 56-yard field goal he scored against the Denver Broncos on October 17, 2010, is his longest FG.

The Dallas Cowboys drafted the placekicker as #178 in 2007. He remained at the franchise till 2009.

The New York Jets signed him in 2010. His longest reign in the NFL was with the Jets. He played for them from 2010 to 2016.

The 2021 NFL scoring co-leader also played for the Buccaneers (2017), Arizona Hotshots (2019), and Patriots (2019-22). He currently plays for the Tennessee Titans.

In the 11 games of 2023, he has made 22 field goals in 23 attempts. The 2007 Pro Bowler has a 100% extra-point conversion rate.

Marcedes Lewis - 39 Years

Marcedes Lewis is the only active footballer from the class of the 2006 NFL Draft. The Jacksonville Jaguars picked him in the 28th place.

Before declaring for the draft, the Tight End played college football for the UCLA Bruins. He was on the 2005 First-team All-Pac-10 and Consensus All-American and won the John Mackey Award.

As a Jaguars player, he played twelve seasons and featured in 170 games. He recorded 4,502 receiving yards with 33 touchdowns.

The 2010 campaign saw his career-best 58 receptions and 700 receiving yards. That year, he was invited to the Pro Bowl.

In 2018, the Packers signed him for $2.1 million. In five seasons, he made 582 receiving yards for six TDs.

Likewise, the Chicago Bears acquired him in a one-year contract on August 4, 2023. He has played 11 games for them.

Matt Prater - 39 Years

Matt Prater enters his 17th season in the NFL. The placekicker has a league record of seventy 50+ yards field goals.

His 75 extra-point tally in 2013 is the most by any player in the NFL.

The UCF Knights alumnus was not picked in the 2006 draft. The Detroit Lions signed him to the preseason roster on May 4, 2006. He was released on August 27.

After spending the 2006 season as a free agent, he was signed by the Dolphins and the Falcons. He featured in two games for Atlanta.

He was in the Dolphins practice squad in 2007.

His calling to the NFL came on December 19, 2007, when the Broncos added him to the roster. He started the 2008 season and made 25 field goals in 34 attempts.

Prater was a Detroit Lions player from 2014 to 2020. Similarly, he has been with the Arizona Cardinals since 2021.

His career tally reads 373 field goals and 448 attempts. The two-time Pro Bowler (2013 and 2016) has scored 392 FGs in 469 tries.

In 2023, he made 19 FGs in 22 attempts and 11 extra-point conversions in 12 tries.

Joe Flacco - 38 Years

Joe Flacco was the 2007 CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Year when he played college football for the Delaware Fightin' Blur Hens (2005-07). Before that, he spent two years with the Pittsburgh Panthers (2003-04).

Seen as one of the top five Quarterbacks of the 2008 draft class, the Baltimore Ravens picked him 18th overall. He was the second QB drafted on the day behind Matt Ryan.

During his time with the Ravens (2008-18), he played 163 matches, recording 38,345 passing yards, 3,499 complete passes, and 212 passing touchdowns.

Flacco helped the Ravens lift the Super Bowl XLVII and was adjudged the MVP of the game.

After departing from Baltimore, he enjoyed short stays at the Denver Broncos (2019), New York Jets (2020, 2021-22), and Philadelphia Eagles (2021).

Likewise, he was signed to the Cleveland Browns practice squad on November 20, 2023, following Deshaun Watson's season-long injury.

Ty Nsekhe - 38 Years

Ty Nsekhe has been in the league since 2012. The Indianapolis Colts signed the Offensive Tackle, but he debuted as a St. Louis Rams player.

After being undrafted in 2009, the veteran played professional football at the arena league for the Corpus Christi Sharks. He also played for the Dallas Vigilantes (2010), Philadelphia Soul (2011), and San Antonio Talons (2012). He was in the 2015 Los Angeles Kiss practice squad.

Nsekhe played two games for the Rams in 2012 as a 26-year-old rookie. The oldest rookie to play in the NFL is Otis Douglas, who debuted for the Philadelphia Eagles at 35.

After that, he spent the 2014 season with the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. In 2015, the Washington Redskins signed him. He remained there till 2018.

He also played for other NFL teams like the Buffalo Bills (2019-20), Dallas Cowboys (2021), and Los Angeles Rams (2022).

After that, the Cleveland Browns signed him to the practice squad in 2023. The Browns elevated him to the active roster on September 23. He has played two games since then.

Brian Hoyer - 38 Years

Brian Hoyer has been in the league since 2009 and has played for nine teams. He enjoyed three stints with the New England Patriots.

The Patriots signed him as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2009. His first stay lasted till 2011.

The second stint with the franchise was from 2017 to 2018. He was part of the Super Bowl LIII winning squad.

Likely, his final stint was from 2020 to 2022. He played seven games and made 394 passing yards for one touchdown.

Duane Brown - 38 Years

Duane Brown was the pick 26 of the 2008 NFL Draft. The Offensive Tackle from the Virginia Tech Hokies played for the Houston Texans from 2008 to 2017.

Mr. Brown was the second-ever Hokies offensive lineman picked in the first round. Eugune Chung was the first round-one O-line player drafted in the 1992 draft.

He played 133 games for the Texans in ten seasons and was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2012, 2013, and 2014.

In 2017, the Seattle Seahawks acquired him via a trade for Martinas Rankin. Initially, Jeremy Lane was the trade player, but Duane's failure in the physical test changed the trade deal.

He played five years for the Seahawks. The two-time Second-team All-Pro player received his fourth and fifth Pro Bowl invitations in 2017 and 2021.

Likewise, in 2022, the New York Jets roped him on a $22 million two-year contract. He has been featured in three games for the Jets in the 2023 season.

Matthew Slater - 38 Years

Matthew Slater enters his 16th season with the New England Patriots. Only Tom Brady has played more seasons (20) for the six-time Super Bowl winners.

He has played 234 games, the second-highest in the Patriots franchise history. Of course, Brady is in the first place (285).

Slater played collegiately for the UCLA Bruins from 2004 to 2007. He was the 153rd pick in the 2008 draft.

After arriving in New England, he mostly played in the gunner role. He recorded 15 total tackles and 637 return yards.

The 2017 Bart Starr Award and the 2021 Art Rooney Award recipient is a three-time Vince Lombardi Trophy winner (XLIX, Li, LII), five-time First-team All-Pro, and three-time Second-team All-Pro player.

He has been included in the Pro Bowl team for ten times. He was also added to the New England Patriots All-Dynasty Team.

Morgan Cox - 37 Years

Morgan Cox has been with the Tennessee Titans since 2021. The Titans retained him for another year on March 10, 2023.

The Long Snapper played college football for the Tennesse Volunteers from 2005 to 2009. Due to his brilliant display on the field, he received a college scholarship in 2008.

Likewise, he played in the 2010 Senior Bowl on January 30, 2010.

Cox replaced Matt Katula in the active roster. He played actively for the Ravens from 2010 to 2020 and earned five Pro Bowl call-ups in 2015, 2016, 2019, 2020, and 2022.

Morgan was also picked for the 2020 First-team All-Pro. The highlight of his career has been the Super Bowl XLVII win against the San Francisco 49ers.

Josh Johnson - 37 Years

Josh Johnson has played in the NFL (2008-present), United Football League (2012), Alliance of American Football (2019), and XFL (2020).

The 160th pick of the 2008 draft played his initial professional football for the Buccaneers (2008-11). He debuted against the Giants on September 27, 2009.

The Quarterback was added to the 2012 49ers' offseason roster. He did not make the final roster cut and was released on August 31.

After that, he played the 2012 campaign for the Sacramento Mountain Lions. He returned to the NFL on December 26, 2012, when the Browns signed him as a replacement for Thad Lewis.

The Defensive End was the Miami Hurricanes player in the 2006 First-team All-ACC team. He played 36 games and made 83 solo and 129 combined tackles.

The 2019 Bart Starr Award winner was the 50th pick of the 2008 draft. He played nine seasons till 2016 for the Cardinals.

During his time with the Cardinals, he made 382 solo and 501 total tackles.

Likewise, the Jaguars signed him in 2017, where he made 137 solo and 195 total tackles. During his Jaguars debut, he sacked QB Tom Savage four times, a franchise record.

The 14.5 sacks in 2017 is also a franchise record.

Since 2020, Campbell has been with the Ravens. In the 2023 season, he has contributed 17 tackles and made 17 solo tackles. He has recorded 3.0 sacks and one forced fumble.

Jimmy Graham - 37 Years

Jimmy Graham is a five-time Pro Bowler and the 2013 NFL receiving touchdowns leader. He made the 2011 Second-team All-Pro and 2013 First-team All-Pro.

The Tight End played college football for the Miami Hurricanes. As a collegiate athlete, he only played 13 games and recorded 17 receptions, 213 receiving yards, and five touchdowns.

He spent most of his time with the basketball team at the college level and switched to football while taking graduate classes.

Graham was the 95th pick in the 2010 draft. He played for the Saints from 2010 to 2014.

After that, he enjoyed his time at the Seahawks (2015-17), Packers (2018-19), and Bears (2020-21). He returned to New Orleans in 2023.

In seven games, he has one reception for 8 yards and a touchdown. His regular career stats read 714 receptions, 8,514 receiving yards, and 86 touchdowns.

Thomas Morstead - 37 Years

Thomas Morstead has played 232 games and made 862 punts. His career records 40,301 punting yards and he has the longest punt of 70 yards.

The New Orleans Saints selected the Punter from SMU Mustangs as the 164th choice in 2009. He played sixteen games and recorded 58 punts in his rookie year.

He made 2,528 punting yards and was part of the Super Bowl XLIV winning team.

Morstead played twelve years for the Saints. His best came in 2012 when he made 74 punts for 3,707 punting yards. The same year, he was selected for the Pro Bowl and the Second-team All-Pro.

He appeared in 190 games and made 692 punts for 32,190 punting yards.

Likewise, Thomas also played for the New York Jets (2021), Atlanta Falcons (2021), and Miami Dolphins (2022). Since 2023, he has been a New York Jets player, making 64 punts and 3,160 punting yards in 11 matches.

JJ Jansen - 37 Years

JJ Jansen has played 237 games for the Carolina Panthers, the highest for the franchise. He surpassed John Kasay's 221-game record on November 27, 2022.

The Long Snapper arrived at the Panthers in 2009 via a trade after spending the 2008 season with the Green Bay Packers.

Jansen received a contract extension on February 28, 2012. He inked a $3.6 million four-year deal. The following year, in 2013, he received a Pro Bowl invitation.

The Notre Dame alumni signed a $5.5 million five-year contract extension in 2016 and another one-year deal in 2021.

His latest contract extension was agreed on February 20, 2023. JJ has 22 total tackles in his NFL career.

Jon Weeks - 37 Years

John Weeks belongs to the draft class of 2008. Unfortunately, the long snapper from the Baylor Bears was not picked by any franchise.

After that, the Detroit Lions offered him a tryout in a minicamp. The luck struck out again, and he remained unsigned. He did not play in the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

A turn of fortune and the grind paid off for John on April 2, 2010, when the Houston Texans signed him for the training camp.

He was retained by the franchise on March 5, 2012. Weeks penned a $3.9 million four-year contract on September 7, 2015. The same year, he was selected for the 2015 Pro Bowl.

His latest contract was inked on February 27, 2023. He has appeared in 11 games for the franchise in the 2023 campaign.

Weeks has set a couple of franchise records for the Texans in the last fourteen years. He started in 171 consecutive games and has played. 221 matches in total.

Andy Dalton - 36 Years

Andy Dalton has been in the NFL since 2011 and has played for five teams. He has appeared in 177 games and has a passing completion rate of 62.5%.

The Quarterback was the TCU Horned Frogs player from 2006 to 2010. He recorded 10,314 passing yards, 71 passing touchdowns, 1,611 rushing yards, and 22 rushing touchdowns.

In the 2011 draft, the Cincinnati Bengals picked him 35th overall.

Dalton was the straightaway starter for the Bengals in his rookie year. He completed 300 passes in 516 attempts and threw 3,398 yards for 20 TDs.

As a Bengals player, he threw 31,594 yards for 204 TDs. He also rushed for 1,221 yards and found the end zone 22 times.

From 2011 to 2019 at Cincinnati, he received three Pro Bowl invitations in 2011, 2014, and 2016.

He also played a season for the Cowboys (2020), Bears (2021), and Saints (2022). Andy is in his first year with the Panthers as the backup for 2024 No. 1 pick Bryce Young.

In 2023, the veteran QB has completed 34 passes in 58 attempts for 361 yards with two touchdowns.

Jason Kelce - 36 Years

Jason Kelce has been a Philadelphia Eagles player since 2011 and has played 187 games. He has the third-highest games under the Eagles logo.

Brandon Graham (189) and David Akers (188) are the top two. Kelce will sit at the top of the list after the December 17 games against the Seattle Seahawks.

Before the NFL, he played college football for the Cincinnati Bearcats from 2006 to 2011. The walk-on athlete from Cleveland Heights High School was initially a running back.

After arriving at the Bearcats, he transformed into a fullback and switched to the offensive line.

Likewise, since he arrived in Philadelphia, he has established himself as a critical part of the O-line. His performance has earned him six Pro Bowl invites and five First-team All-Pro inclusions.

On top of everything, he is a Super Bowl (LII) champion.

Also, his younger brother Travis Kelce, a media magnet because of his affiliation with Taylor Swift, is a Super Bowl winner. I forgot to mention two things: LIV and LVII.

Graham Gano - 36 Years

Graham Gano is one of the eleven Scottish-born players in the National Football League. The New York Giants Placekicker is from Arbroath, Scotland.

He joined Florida State University and played as a punter and kicker for the Seminoles from 2005 to 2008.

Gano is the only Seminoles player with a 90% field goal conversion rate in a season. He also has the record for 50+ yards FGs in a single season.

The 2008 Lou Groza Award winner was undrafted in the 2009 draft. Later, the Baltimore Ravens signed him. He was released after they signed Steve Hauschka.

After that, he signed with the Las Vegas Locomotives and helped them win the first-ever USFL title.

Impressed by his performance, the Redskins signed him on December 8, 2009. He made 59 field goals in 80 attempts and converted 59 extra points in 61 tries in three seasons.

Likewise, the Panthers signed him in 2012. He plated till 2019 for the franchise. During that period, he received his only Pro Bowl call-up in 2018.

Since 2020, he has been with the Giants. In 2023, the kicker has played in eight matches and recorded 11 FGs in 17 tries and eight extra points in exact tries.
