Last 10 years of Super Bowl halftime shows have been performed by Rihanna, The Weeknd, Maroon 5, Coldplay, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and more.

From the Super Bowl I held at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on January 15, 1967, to the latest mega LVII at State Farm Stadium on February 12, 2023, many individual and group performances at halftime have made the NFL finals more entertaining for the audience in attendance and home.

Musical performances have always been the go-to entertainment method for the organizers, and people's curiosity about who will be the next to entertain generates excellent buzz.

The Super Bowl LVIII will feature Usher. He will be performing at the Allegiant Stadium on February 11, 2024. The announcement about his selection was made on the 24th of September.

The tradition of using solo artists as the main attraction began in SB XXVI (1993) when Michael Jackson took center stage.

Since then, Diana Ross, Queen Latifah, Stevie Wonder, Beyonce, Aerosmith, Madonna, Janet Jackson, The Rolling Stones, and Prince have headlined the event.

Rihanna - 2023

Rihanna's performance in Super Bowl LVII was the first halftime show sponsored by Apple Music. It marked the return of the Barbados-born singer after seven years.

121.07 million people watched the event. It is the most-watched SB halftime event of all time. Likewise, it is the second most-watched TV broadcast in the US after the Apollo 11 Moon Landing of 1969.

Rihanna appeared in a glossy latex red jumpsuit designed by Alaia and Loewe. She started with 'What's My Name?' and ended the musical showcase with 'Diamonds.'

The nine-time Grammy winner also includes these songs:

Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar - 2022

Super Bowl LVI halftime show catered around hip hop music and was the first SB to try it. It was the last SB halftime event sponsored by Pepsi.

The lineup and everything was a massive success as it won Outstanding Variety Special (Live), Outstanding Music Direction, and Outstanding Production Design for a Variety Special award at the 2022 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The 112.3 million average viewers it amassed during the event is the fourth most-watched TV broadcast in United States history.

DR. Dre and Snoop Dogg started the event with 'The Next Episode' and moved to 'California Love.' 50 Cent surprised everyone with 'In da Club.'

Mary J. Bilge took the stage with 'Family Affair' and 'No Mpre Drama.' Kendrick Lamar entered the scene with 'M.A.A.D City' and 'Alright.'

Eminem joined Lamar for 'Forget About Dre.' The fifteen-time Grammy Award winner let it out with 'Lose Yourself,' where Anderson .Paak backed him on drums.

Dr. Dre paid homage to Tupac Shakur with an instrumental of 'I Ain't Mad at Cha.' The magnificent night ended with all the performers taking the stage for 'Still D.R.E.'

The Weeknd - 2021

Toronto Mayor John Tory honored The Weeknd's Super Bowl LV halftime show, and the 7th of February was declared The Weeknd Day.

The Raymond James Stadium witnessed 24,835 people in attendance. The low number of attendees was due to COVID-19 restrictions. Only 37% of seats were allowed to be filled.

The selection of the singer made him the first Canadian solo artist to lead the SB halftime event.

Dressed in a red blazer and a black necktie, the 33-year-old started with 'Call Out My Name.' 'Starboy,' 'The Hills,' 'Can't Feel My Face,' 'I Feel It Coming,' 'Save Your Tears,' 'Earned It,' and 'House of Balloons' lifted the musical night.

The artist came to the field with dancers and performed 'Blinding Lights' to conclude the event. At the end, a series of fireworks were lit around the stadium.

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez - 2020

Shakira and Jennifer Lopez performed at the Hard Rock Stadium on February 2, 2020. Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Emme Muniz were the guest artists.

Roc Nation decided to go with Lopez and Shakira to display Latin culture. They became the third Latin artists to headline the event.

The show started with Shakira's dance on 'Dare (La La La)' transitioning it into 'She Wolf.' During her set, she performed 'Empire,' 'Ojas Asi,' 'Whenever, Wherever,' I Like It,' 'Chanataje,' and 'Hips Don't Lie.'

She crowd-surfed whilae performing the last number.

Jennifer entered the set in a black leather bodysuit and started with 'Jenny from the Block,' followed by 'Ain't It Funny,' Get Right,' Waiting for Tonight,' 'Que Calor,' and 'On the Floor.'

Shakira joined Lopez and sang 'Let' Get Loud.' They need the night with 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).'

Maroon 5 - 2019

Maroon 5 starred in the SB LIII halftime show, while Travis Scott and Big Boi were the special guests. 70,081 people were in attendance for the event.

The selection process took time, and the final announcement came in January 2019. Traditionally, the halftime show artist would be publicized in September.

Several artists like Pink and Rihanna rejected the offer to headline the mega event due to their support of Colin Kaepernick, causing the delay.

The musical triumph commenced with 'Harder to Breathe.' The artist followed it with other famous songs like:

Travis Scott performed 'Sicko Mode,' while Big Boi rocked with 'Kryptonite' and 'The Way You Move.'

The musical night did not sit well with the critics. Many criticized the artists for accepting the offer in the midst of the Kaepernick controversy.

The show as labeled flat, terrible, dull, boring, and lackluster by several analysts.

However, one cannot deny that the 99.04 million viewers it amassed were more than the 98.4 million TV viewers of the game itself.

Justin Timberlake - 2018

Justin Timberlake headlined the SB LII, marking his third appearance at the event. He appeared with NSYNC in XXV and with Janet Jackson in XXXVIII.

The 'Rock Your Body' duet with Janet during the 2004 program was one of the most controversial Super Bowl moments. The wardrobe malfunction is termed 'Nipplegate.'

Keeping that aside, the nine Billboard Music Awards and ten Grammy Awards winner performed eleven songs as the lead in 2018.

The musician backed his performance with his biggest hits like 'Senorita,' 'Cry Me a River,' 'My Love,' and 'Mirrors.'

The ninth song of the night was 'I Would Die 4 U,' featuring a video of Prince performing. The huge sheet showed the video while Timberlake played the grand piano.

Lady Gaga - 2017

The NFL approached Lady Gaga after a refusal from Adele. Gaga's confirmation was publicized via her Instagram handle on September 29, 2016.

The 13 Grammy Award winner previously worked with the league for the national anthem performance for SB 50.

The mesmerizing performance was seen by 117.5 million viewers, making it the second most-watched halftime show at that time and third overall.

The show started with a pre-recorded intro with 'God Bless America' and 'This Land Is Your Land.'

The musical numbers sung during the event were:

The show was a complete blockbuster. Everything from music to lighting to props and dress received critical acclaim. The silver outfit worn by the singer during the 'Bad Romance' was called 'most interesting' customer. It was designed by Versace.

Coldplay - 2016

The Telegraph ranked the 2016 NFL finals halftime event in the second position among the 21 Unforgettable Super Bowl Halftime Shows.

Likewise, the Athletic placed it in third place on the Super Bowl Halftime Shows Ranked, released in 2023.

Coldplay began the SB 50 halftime show with 'Yellow' and followed the masterpiece with 'Viva la Vida,' 'Paradise,' and 'Adventure of a Lifetime.'

The fifth song of the night was 'Uptown Funk.' It's not a Coldplay song, right? Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson made a special appearance to entertain 71,088 people at the stadium.

Beyonce performed 'Formation' as the sixth musical of the night. The last song was 'Fix You' / 'Up&Up;,' where the headliners performed along with Beyonce and Bruno.

A total of 115.5 million people watched the program on their television screens.

Katy Perry- 2015

Katy Perry participated in the SB XLIX and attracted 121 million viewers. It beat the SB XLVIII's record and became the most-watched halftime show.

The special guests for the event sponsored by Pepsi were Lenny Kravitz, Missy Elliott, and Sun Devil Marching Band.

The American Idol judge made her entrance in a golden mechanical lion and announced herself on the stage with 'Roar.' It was followed by 'Dark Horse,' where various acrobats were seen accompanying the singer.

Lenny joined Katy for 'I Kissed a Girl.' The singer matched the flaming background with a flame-themed dress.

'Teenage Dream' and 'California Gurls' sported a beach theme. 'Get Ur Freak On,' 'Work It,' and 'Lose Control' followed.

The musical spectacle ended with 'Firework,' where she was shining bright in a star-encrusted gown. As she flew above the audience, fireworks lit around the stadium, ending the show with a blast.

Bruno Mars - 2014

Bruno Mars's selection for the SB XLVIII was announced in September 2013. He performed on his first Super Bowl at the MetLife Stadium.

The show started with the song 'Billionaire,' which featured a children's choir. A fantastic drum solo from the artist followed it.

'Locked Out of Heaven,' 'Treasure,' 'Runaway Baby,' and 'Give It Away' were performed one after another. The night's last song was 'Just the Way You Are,' which paid homage to the United States Armed Forces.

A special appearance from the 'Californication' creators, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, during the 'Give It Away' performance made the night glorious.

82,529 spectators at the venue and 115.3 million viewers watched it from home. It became the most-watched SB halftime event of all time.
